The IT Architect V – Enterprise Architect is instrumental in collaborating with domain SMEs in developing current and future state architectures for different areas including Operations, SCADA/Measurement, Commercial, Finance, Corporate, Infrastructure, and Networking. The focus of these efforts is tied to cross domain business optimization and transformational efforts which involve system integration, data alignment, enterprise-wide technologies, IT governance, and thought leadership. As part of the Enterprise Architecture team, you will be responsible for understanding the IT application portfolio and overall data landscape to identify duplication, gaps, technical debt, risks, data alignment, integration opportunities, and new technologies as part of assisting the business in translating strategy into capabilities and future state to achieve strategic business outcomes.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Decomposes systems into smaller components and viewpoints, along with the enforced rules that enable consistent design across the enterprise

  • Defines the application tiers, frameworks, components types and interfaces; specifies and provides ownership of reusable application components or reusable application code and supports the Enterprise Application Integration

  • Defines the visual roadmap and performs design reviews

  • Monitors emerging standards, sets standards and technologies to be used by the enterprise

  • Crafts the architecture vision, conceptualizes and experiments with alternative architectural approaches; builds models, components and interface specification documents; validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions

  • Translates business requirements into repeatable design strategies, systems qualities and patterns

  • Solves problems with developers, addresses ongoing revisions/improvements of the architecture

  • Analyzes competitors, products, strategies and product generation processes

  • Surveys external emerging developments, new technologies, standards and methodologies

  • Mentors, teaches, consults with other team members

  • Provides technical governance with the facilitation of the creation/modification of technical standards, models, and reference architectures

  • Provides technical consulting, roadmap development, and facilitation of solution design

  • Develops current and target state architecture blueprints with transition roadmaps and incremental architectural sequencing

  • Translates business requirements into repeatable design strategies, systems qualities, and patterns

  • Develops system data flows for large cross domain projects focusing on business processes, data flows, and integration standards

  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends technologies that support current and future Williams strategies

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to IT and business leadership as it relates to the technology enablement of business capabilities

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in IT related field; a minimum ten (10) years’ developing software systems and IT experience

  • Preferred: Minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience and prior oil/gas industry experience

Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in-office and 2 days remote weekly

  • On-call as needed to deal with critical incidents and outages

  • Less than 20% travel required

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority

  • Needs proficient knowledge of architecture principles design

  • Needs knowledge of application/interface design

  • Working knowledge of all areas of IT, especially data center functions (servers, DB, networks, security)

  • Experience creating and maintaining large enterprise architectures

  • Proficient knowledge of scripting and how scripts work

  • Broad knowledge of the IT industry including technology components, concepts, models/frameworks, standards, and major industry trends

  • Experience with application portfolio management and rationalization

  • Experience with master data management techniques

  • Needs understanding of standard methodologies for networking and security standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications particularly Visio and PowerPoint to build, modify, and present sophisticated technical architectural diagrams and presentations

  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics

  • Insight into information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA frameworks

  • Awareness of existing, new, and emerging technologies

  • Effective leadership skills with exceptional soft and interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation

  • Strong consulting skills such as targeted communications, engagement management, internal partner management, and business development

  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills

  • Excellent data analysis skills

  • Ability to multi-task while adhering to multiple timetables of completion
